Cert center serves 19 pilots in first week
In the 7 days that the new Pilot Cert Center has been open, we've served more than 40 ratings to 19 pilots. Thanks to feedback from pilots and controllers alike, a number of small changes have been made to the web site. One significant change, though, was the removal of a rating restriction on the controller side. Pilots can now expect to controllers of any rating to accomodate their test request (workload permitting), so long as they're staffing the appropriate postion.
Pilots can expect to see SNA_TWR and SNA_APP staffed more often by student tower and approach controllers.
Feedback about the site and the process has been very positive, and we look forward to seeing where this might light in the future. One VA has already decided to scrap their existing, proprietary online checkride in favor of having their pilots complete the V1-3 and I1-3 ratings. We'd welcome the opportunity to help other VA's similarly raise the bar.
