Ed Tomlinson, last of the I7 grads
Congratulations to Ed "Cancel IFR" Tomlinson for being the final I7 graduate in the ZLA Pilot Cert Program, finishing up his rating the night before the release of the I8 and I9 ratings. "I knew the ratings were coming out any minute, so I jumped in the plane, flew the I7 and canceled IFR as soon as I had the field."
In his haste, Ed canceled IFR no less than 18 times during the course of the rating, saying, "you just never know when that bastard is going to put out another rating and scrub you from the graduate list! It's a moving target...I can't take it!!" as he pops another Advil.
Fear not, Ed, the I7 graduate list is now set in stone, and your name is the last to be etched upon it. You can stop canceling IFR now, seriously, you passed!
